A Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all the activities of a construction site in accordance with plans and specifications. This person must be very knowledgeable in commercial and residential construction. Their duties include coordinating subcontractors and team members, performing quality control and safety checks, and providing on-site direction for the construction project. They will supervise a team of laborers, carpenters, and concrete finishers. They must communicate with the Project Manager throughout the duration of a project to ensure the project's success. Must have problem-solving skills and have a take-charge initiative.
SAFETY
- Implementing safety plans and company policies.
- Enforce PPE, vehicles, equipment, and drug policies.
- Conduct and document weekly Safety meetings.
TIME MANAGEMENT
- Work with the utmost sense of care and urgency to ensure the highest quality and efficiency standards are met.
- Responsible for all onsite team members job duties, tasks, and work schedule.
- Be self-motivated and keep team members on task.
- Implement management techniques that are cost-effective and efficient.
SCHEDULING RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate with project manage on all labor, materials, subcontractor, and equipment needs.
- Schedule subcontractors and vendors based on critical path timeline.
- Make changes in the operation as necessary to best meet construction deadlines.
- Prioritize and schedule all construction activities.
- Assist in scheduling team members across multiple projects.
DAILY/WEEKLY ONSITE DUTIES
- Maintain daily and weekly logs for the job site's operations, take daily pictures and report to management as necessary.
- Conduct weekly site reviews with Project Manager.
- Work with office personnel and Project Manager to track and maintain budget, schedule, change orders, and RFI's.
- Read and interpret plans and specifications.
- Read and understand staking and grades.
- Keep As-Built/Redline drawings up to date.
- Coordinate all work phases of the project with a hands-on approach.
- Maintain jobsite, vehicle, and equipment cleanliness.
- Conflict Resolution
- Accommodate weekly site visits by owners, engineers, and architects.
- Minimum two years in Construction Industry.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to organize a work schedule.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
- Perform maintenance checks and routine servicing on construction equipment.
- Effective motivator of team members to successfully complete assigned projects.
- Must be able to operate various pieces of equipment i.e., Telehandler, Skid Steer, etc.
